Monstera Abstract Watercolour Project

This Monstera Abstract Watercolour Project is a complete unit of work that asks students to use the silhouette of a monstera leaf to create a painting.  It includes the following stages:

  • Students research the work of Paul Klee and create a research page.
  • Students learn about abstract art.
  • Using monstera leaves, students create a design.
  • Watercolour techniques are applied and the colours are influenced by Paul Klee.

This download includes:

  • A 15-slide PowerPoint, pictured above, that guides your students through every step.  The images are static and the text is editable.
  • A 3-page written unit or work that includes 7 stages and lots of good advice and tips.
  • 4 Monstera leaves to create the design/composition.
  • Paul Klee Images to inspire the watercolour colour-choices.
  • An assessment rubric.  There are two versions of this resource, one with the spelling ‘colour’ and another with the spelling ‘color’.

Materials required: paper, watercolour, brushes and sea salt.

Good comprehensive unit. I plan to also ask my students to draw from observation to begin with as we have a monstera plants on campus.

A great looking unit that I am looking forward to using.
    Thanks.
