Drawing a leaf may sound simple, but there is so much to learn from this task. This task works well with mixed-ability groups, including low-ability students, because students cut out and draw around a leaf first which gives their drawing a great start. Students will:
- Practice their observational drawing skills.
- Practice their cutting skills.
- Learn that good presentation can really elevate a drawing.
This download includes:
- A detailed lesson plan.
- A 3-slide presentation that states the learning objectives and shows a good example of the sketchbook page and a large picture of the drawing of the leaf.
- 4 leaves for students to choose to draw.
- A page of coloured leaves for an extension task.
