Description

This Art Movements concertina book is a great way for students to learn about art movements and improve their art literacy by looking at, analysing and writing about art. They also learn to make a concertina book.

Students will:

  • Learn about art movements through research and practical tasks.
  • Make a concertina book including a collaged cover and textured pages.
  • Practise their presentation skills.
  • Analyse an artwork and create an ‘artists copy’.

This download includes:

  • A 4 page written unit of work which breaks the project into stages and suggested homework tasks.
  • An 11-slide PowerPoint presentation.
  • Access to a video that can be used to ‘teach the teacher’ or be used with students, that shows how to fold and texture the paper, how to attach the concertina to the covers and some tips for presentation. The link is in the written unit of work.
  • Labels for the front cover.
  • A page for in the book that lists ‘Major Art Movements’.
  • A single column assessment rubric.
  • Please note, this download does not include the pieces of collage show in the video above. Students are given a choice of art movements to research and collect their own images.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
