Bio
With a strong foundation in textiles including a Masters degree in knitted textile design from the University of Huddersfield and a PhD developing novel cleaning technologies from the University of Leeds, I have taken my working knowledge of the arts and textiles industries and applied it to work with the community to design and deliver creative workshops for over 20 years.
My art practice and research are focussed on sculptural textiles and mixed media pieces that are inspired by the landscape, history and folklore of both Yorkshire and the Orkney islands using natural dyes, found objects, print and paint.

Experience in Schools
I have over 20 years’ experience as a tutor and workshop facilitator, delivering socially-engaged workshops. With specialist expertise in working with hard-to-reach audiences, I design and deliver tailor-made sessions around key outcomes.
Working with a broad range of stakeholders from universities, colleges, schools, councils, community groups and charities, I have worked to specific objectives, achieving a wide variety of key results, including:
Curriculum-focussed sessions ;
Well-being outcomes directly linked to the five ways to well-being;
Generic learning outcomes across specific groups and
A broad variety of bespoke workshops ranging across historical, creative, textile, craft and food, often specifically tailored to align to funding objectives.
My work is always devised to take my clients on a journey by jointly planning, managing and delivering sessions, conducting post-session reviews and end-of-project reports to further demonstrate the value created by these projects.
