This is an exciting project where students learn about stop motion animation and create an individual, personal response. During this stop motion animation project, students will:
- Learn about stop motion animation.
- Create a storyboard of their own stop motion animation idea.
- Learn how to use a stop motion animation App*.
- Create a stop motion animation using pieces of collage. See an example here.
*You need no knowledge of Apps as students will learn through experimentation and self-exploration. It is a great project for them to learn about basic digital tools.

This download includes:
- An 11-slide PowerPoint presentation with links to YouTube* videos, objectives, resources and more.
- A Google Slides view-only link for quick, browser-based use (perfect for Chromebooks)
- A 3-page lesson plan. The duration of this project is 5 lessons.
- A blank storyboard.
- An assessment rubric.
*You need to be able to show your students YouTube videos to fully deliver this project.
Materials and equipment required: Devices such as phones or iPads where you can download the Apps iMotion (IOS) or Stop Motion Studio (IOS & Android). Tripods or similar to hold the devices. A3/ledger paper for the background in white and a range of colours. Students need to collect and print their own collage pieces for their animation.
