The objective of this short course (50mins), is to introduce you to the art of wax trapping, teach you a range of processes you can use with students, and highlight what a useful technique this is in helping students developed their ideas.

Once you have watched the professional development, you will be able to download a certificate that includes your name, the name of the course, and the duration. Although the video is 50 mins, the duration of the course is 6 hours to allow you time to create and plan.

This course is ideal if you are new to teaching or haven’t experimented with wax trapping before.

Materials Required: A batik pot, wax, hog hair brush, a range of tissue paper colours including white, collage materials such as old magazines, used and/or unused teabags, photocopies of drawings and sketches of your own choosing. I’d also recommend your favourite hot beverage or tipple and a delicious snack. After all, art is meant to be fun.

Love this, what a great way for students to use wax. This is much more doable than encaustics, which I love to do at home! Thank you for this inspiring course!

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
