3 gargoyle grid drawings that are excellent for teaching detailed, tonal drawing.
There are two versions of each grid drawing. One with the grid in place and one where there are tiny marks around the edge of the square so that students can draw their own lines. Boys have really engaged with lessons on gargoyles.
There are many grid drawings on The Arty Teacher.
Why not read this history of gargoyles.
I’ve purchased a few of The Arty Teacher’s grid drawings and all of them are a hit with my high school art students. I use them for substitute activities and also as early-finisher projects. I will keep purchasing from Sarah-she understands what young artists and their teachers need in a pinch!

The grid gargoyle is a great value exercise. It made my students carefully observe and draw what they see . There were some genuine surprises and « aha » moments when they looked at the final piece. Truly enjoyed and had good practice with this one.

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.
I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.
I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
