I am a self-employed artist trained in embroidered textiles graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1990. I then spent a year on the, ‘Artist in schools scheme’, run by the Drumcroon Education Arts Centre working in Wigan primary schools. I have a PGCE from Huddersfield University, 1996. I was an active member of the Artists in Schools team, Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, joined in 1999 and an artist in residence for the early years Education team, Blackpool.
I continue to combine developing my personal work with my teaching/community artwork. I have experience of working with pupils of all ages and with a wide range of abilities.
I became a Holocaust educator specialising in teaching about the Holocaust through Art in 2006. I am a Fellow of the Imperial War Museum London in Holocaust Education and ran a project in Holocaust Arts Schools Education, ‘Art in the Shadow of Death,’ which was funded by the Arts Council England. I am also a Fellow of Royal Holloway University of London in Holocaust and Jewish Civilisation and a Yad Vashem graduate, where I received a grant to further develop work in Holocaust Arts Education. I am a project partner with AJR(The Association of Jewish Refugees) recently receiving a grant from AJR, The Pears Foundation and The Linking Network to develop and deliver a Holocaust arts project in Bolton Schools. I have been awarded a second National Lottery Heritage Lottery grant to further develop and deliver a Greater Manchester schools Holocaust arts project Holocaust Memorial Day 2024.
I have developed and delivered Genocide art projects in schools, inspired by being invited on these two educational visits.

Experience in Schools
I believe that every person possesses natural abilities that need to be encouraged and enthused, to enable people to explore the creative processes and products. I am able: 1. To introduce pupils to new skills and extend existing skills. 2. To enable them to fully understand and therefore appreciate the creative process and product. 3. To enable them to understand, appreciate and articulate about their own work and that of their peers and others. 4. Through the use of visual images, pupils are able to develop a visual literacy to add to their skills of critical thinking in order to understand, recognise and evaluate arts as a means of expression. The workshops I offer: Textiles: Hand Embroidery Techniques Felt Applique Silk Painting Fabric Painting Batik Simple Textile Printing Techniques In a session pupils would have time for individual creative exploration of a technique. With more time group creative responses could be explored, or pupils could experience a combination of techniques.
