Bookbinding a denim book is a great way to broaden your curriculum and offer your students new skills that can be developed further. As the cover is made of old card and recycled denim, this is a great upcycling/recycling project. I used recycled paper too. Students will learn:
- How to create and stitch a one-section book.
- How to make a denim-covered cover.
- How to construct the book.
- Bookbinding subject-specific vocabulary.
This download includes:
- The 16-slide PowerPoint, pictured above, that guides you and your student through every step.
- A three-page lesson plan that gives detailed information about each step. It’s full of good advice and do’s and don’t.
Materials required for bookbinding a denim book: Old denim, recycled paper, strong thread, needles, white glue, stippling brushes or decorators brushes. #Ad
