Collaborative Oil Pastel Artwork – Labrador

Creating this collaborative oil pastel artwork, teaches your students to use oil pastels and to work as a team.

Students work in groups, with each student drawing a piece of the picture which combines to create a large artwork.  The lesson plan is full of useful advice. 

  • The 16 pages combine to make an A0 or ANSI E size artwork.

This download includes:

  • A 16-page PDF of different pieces of brightly coloured labrador.
  • A lesson plan that includes: Preparation, introduction, demonstration, development, plenary, extension task.
  • A complete image of the colourful Labrador to show students.

Materials required: Oil pastels with a good range of colours, drawing paper, Q-Tips/cotton buds, transfer paper (optional), drawing pencils.

The fantastic example below was created by art teacher John Palomares and his senior students. Can you believe each piece of this collaborative artwork is A3!!! They are going to hang this in the library of Casey Grammar school in Melbourne, Australia.
