There is a US and a UK version of ‘Drawing and Collaging a Kiwi’ to account for different uses of the words tone/value and colour/color.
This project has been made for hybrid teaching. It’s easy to email home or print and use in the art room. This download asks students to draw in coloured pencil and then create a collage using magazine pieces. This seven-page download includes the pages pictured above. Detailed instructions on how to draw the kiwi for both tasks are included on these pages.
If your students are at home they don’t need to print this, they just need to view it on a PC or device.
There are lots of Distance Learning and Hybrid art projects on The Arty Teacher website.

My students were so engaged, that you could have heard a pin drop! They worked on the drawing and colouring part of this activity for 90 minutes with intense focus and enthusiasm, sharing their work with each other along the way. I tried it too, and I must admit mine turned out better than I expected! We will complete the task with the collaging in our next Art periods. I always love the tasks I get through The Arty Teacher! I should probably get a subscription!
Thank you so much for this detailed review. I’m pleased to read that this really engaged your students and that you tried it too!
