This ‘Colour Theory Watercolour Lesson’ can be used as a cover/sub lesson or as an introduction to harmonious/analogous and contrasting colours. Students will:
- Experiment with selecting three harmonious/analogous and one contrasting colour to create a colour scheme.
- Paint their selected colours using watercolour onto the patterned worksheet above.

- A worksheet for painting on (pictured here). There are two versions, one that uses the spelling ‘colour’ and term ‘harmonious’, and one that uses the spelling ‘color’ and term ‘analogous’.
- A 12-section colour wheel. Also two versions with the spellings ‘colour’ and ‘color’.
- A lesson plan.
Materials required: paper, watercolour, waterpots and brushes.
