Colour Theory Watercolour Lesson

This ‘Colour Theory Watercolour Lesson’ can be used as a cover/sub lesson or as an introduction to harmonious/analogous and contrasting colours. Students will:

  • Experiment with selecting three harmonious/analogous and one contrasting colour to create a colour scheme.
  • Paint their selected colours using watercolour onto the patterned worksheet above.

This download includes:

  • A worksheet for painting on (pictured here).  There are two versions, one that uses the spelling ‘colour’ and term ‘harmonious’, and one that uses the spelling ‘color’ and term ‘analogous’.
  • A 12-section colour wheel.  Also two versions with the spellings ‘colour’ and ‘color’.
  • A lesson plan.

Materials required: paperwatercolour, waterpots and brushes.
