Description

Environmental Art Wall HangingThis environmental art wall hanging is ideal for Earth Day or if you just want to deliver an environmental art project.  Please click on the image to the right to see the small teacher example of the wall hanging in more detail. Your class version will be much larger as each student will make two plaits.  This short project should fill two lessons.  Students will:

  • Gain an understanding of Environmental Art
  • Work as a team
  • Use recycled materials to create a group artwork.

Students will need to collect old plastic bags and small plastic and metal objects such as plastic lids and ring-pulls. Other materials required are glue, sticky tape, cardboard and glue guns.  This download includes:

  • An 8-slide PowerPoint
  • A two-page lesson plan
  • An option of two different titles for the header of the wall hanging, one of which reads ‘Think Green’ the other ‘Earth Day’.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
