Lobster Pots & Rope Book
During this project students broaden their perception of what drawing can be using a variety of media. It is an ideal project to run at the start of a course where students are going to follow an independent path such as GCSE or A level. Students will:
- Learn to make a simple folded book.
- Draw with a range of different media.
- Draw with a range of experimental and traditional drawing techniques.
This download includes:
- Access to a 16-minute instructional video, which can be used as professional development for yourself or with students.
- 3 pages of lobster pot and rope images. (As seen in video above).
- 4 Pages of rope knots. See below.
Please note, this download does not include written instructions as all the instructions are in the video.
Materials required: A2 paper (approx 16.5 x 23.4 inches) However, this book could be made any size. Indian ink, scrap card, ballpoint pens in a variety of colours (each student will need 3 different colours), black chalk pastels (the rectangular type with straight edges work well for this task). Brushes and drawing pencils.
I imagine this would take about 7 lessons to create, or less if students create the detailed traditional drawings as a homework task.
