Painting a Cupcake

Painting a CupcakePainting a Cupcake with Acrylic is a download that has everything you need to support your students with learning how to paint with acrylic.  This download includes:

  • A step-by-step guide within a 9 slide PowerPoint. (Pictured above). Talk this through with students before they start.  The text is editable.
  • The same images on a one-page step-by-step worksheet that supports students whilst they work.  There are two versions: one which uses ‘tones’ the other ‘values’.
  • 5 high-resolution images of cupcakes that already have a grid on them.  (Pictured here.)
  • A page for students to draw the grid that already has a rectangle of the right dimensions and tiny marks to make drawing the grid easy.
  • A link to a stop frame video where you can see the cupcake above being painted.

For this project, you will need acrylic paint, brushes, water pots and palettes*

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
