Patterned Landscape
Patterned Landscape

Pattern is one of the principles of design and it’s great to include some pattern work in your curriculum. During this patterned landscapes project, students will create their own composition for a patterned landscape inspired by the included landscape images. After apply pattern you can choose if they move on to add watercolour or shading. Included in this download:

  • A 13-slide PowerPoint that guides your students through the steps to make a patterned landscape.
  • 2 pages of landscape images (4 on a page) to inspire the compositions. These are Ai generated. Alternatively, students could photograph or collect their own landscape images.
  • A zendoodle handout (also available separately) to inspire the patterns.

During the watercolour phase of this project, students are asked to gradate watercolour. You may wish to use my ‘How to Gradate’ download to reinforce these skills.

There are many more Zentangle downloads and Landscape Art Lessons on The Arty Teacher website.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
