Description

This creative Pointillism Eye unit of work, teaches students about Pointillism, Seurat and optical mixing. With this project, you can choose if students work on top of a faint eye that is provided, or if they draw their own eye. This download includes:

  • A PowerPoint that introduces what Pointillism is and includes step by step images of the eye that students will create. Pictured above.
  • A lesson plan.
  • A resource sheet with Seurat images on it and a space to practice optical mixing at the bottom.
  • A faint eye which students can work on top, adding their dots of colour.
  • Or, they can use the eyes reference sheet to draw their own eye.
  • A self assessment resource.

Duration:
Using faint eye: 2 hrs 5 mins.
Drawing own eye: 3 hrs.
(There suggested extension tasks could make this a lot longer!)

I love this feedback from a buyer:

“So many compliments on this art activity! A student even won a ribbon in the county fair for her painting. Thank you!”  Jane, Arizona.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
