Stippled Mixed Media Beetle

Stippled Mixed Media Beetle

This is an exciting, creative project where students will create a stippled mixed media beetle. During this task, they will learn:

  • To create a mixed media artwork of a beetle.
  • To explore the benefits of creating an interesting surface for an artwork.
  • To experiment with stippling to create an observational drawing that includes detail and a range of tones.

Included in this download:

  • A 15-slide PowerPoint that supports your students step-by-step. See above.
  • A lesson plan to help structure the lesson and also give good advice!
  • 7 beetle images for your students to choose from, a few of which are Ai generated. See below.
  • Some collage papers as an alternative to using book paper.

Materials required: cardboard, old fiction books, scissors, glue, fine liners.

There are many more mixed media lessons and insect inspired lessons on The Arty Teacher website.
