Description

This unit of work has been designed as a ‘no sharing art materials’ unit. Students can complete the tasks in the classroom or at home or a mixture of both.

You need to give students a sketchbook or paper and a sheet of tracing paper.  Students need to have their own pencil, ruler, ballpoint pen or fineliner and coloured pencils.  You can either print a pack for each student or use the provided PowerPoint in class.  If you students have tablets you can airdrop or share the pack with them.

This project, based around using the supplied photos of converser trainers, supports them to create a line drawing and a tone drawing of converse.  It asks them to create a research page on Andy Warhol, and then create four repeat line drawings with pen which are then coloured in with flat pencil colour.

This download includes:

  • A 10-page pack with all the instructions to complete the unit of work.  There is a separate version for the UK and USA to allow for differences in language and measurements. (Pictured above).
  • A PowerPoint to use in the classroom that includes all the examples in the pack.
  • A written scheme of work that describes the different stages of the unit.  It does not include individual lesson plans.
  • An assessment rubric within the 10-page pack and PowerPoint.

The Arty Teacher Ltd never breaks copyright so this download does not include any Andy Warhol artworks.  The unit of work is written so that students do their own research.

There are more home learning resources on The Arty Teacher and more ‘no sharing art materials’ units of work coming soon.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
