This is a fantastic ‘woven shading task’ to teach students that tones/values can give the illusion of depth. As I say to my students frequently ‘Lights come forward, darks go back!’. Students use shading and blending to achieve the illusion that the strips are woven. There is a version of this resource for the UK and USA to allow for the different use of the word tone and value. I loved these lesson. It was a wonderful and EASY way for my students to learn about Value and Tone. Mostly the reason I loved the lesson is it was helpful to teach my students how to better use their colored pencils.
