Walls Can Teach – Inspiring Art Rooms
Is it just me, or do you love looking at other peoples inspiring art rooms? I’m interested to see how they have made a space ripe for creativity, how they display students work and how they make it welcoming and appealing. It always makes me want to improve my own art room. The following are simply some pictures I’ve had permission to post from the many talented art teachers posting and tweeting on the internet.
You know you have a dedicated Art Teacher when even the outside of their room is given this much care and attention. This inspiring and creative corridor was created by Chris Christofori.

A big ‘wow’ goes to Carly Moriah. This is her room at Valley High School in Smithers WV, and she also teaches at Valley Elementary. I can’t imagine the hours that have gone into creating this colourful and welcoming space. Every corner has been carefully considered.
Walls that look as if they are dripping with paint are a colorful backdrop.

I love a good ‘before and after’ shot. Look at these shelves that have been transformed by Emily Victoria. I’m certain that this has a positive impact on the way students look after the materials and resources that we provide. The photo below is also from Emily Victoria. Isn’t the writing on the wall appealing? And what a great message – Art is for Everyone.

The art room below is the creation of Jamie Amanda Phillips Bozeman who works in a school in Panama City Florida. This striking Van Gogh and Mondrian inspired space must be a pleasure to work in. There was a phrase about ‘environment’ when I was training to be an art teaching that said ‘Walls Can Teach’. That is certainly the case here.

The children’s hand tree mural—- if painted outside on a metal tanker outside our school- what is best paint to let the kids use? Did you create a tree? Beautiful and creative ideas here
Hi there, Thanks for your comment. The first priority I would think of is what paint is safe to put on children’s hands. Once you’ve worked that out I would suggest using an exterior varnish over the top. Perhaps something like a clear yacht varnish.
